There comes a time in every Christian’s life, that we come upon hard times. We encounter a trial or a test and it pushes us. We feel as if we don’t have the strength to carry on. The bad report from the doctor, that child that just won’t stop pushing and testing you, unexpected loss or heart break. All of these things can create a sense of weakness for us.

Today I want to remind you where we find our strength.

Joshua chapter 1 verse 8 & 9 says

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Most people skip straight to verse 9 where he says “I have commanded you be strong and of good courage for I am with you wherever you go.”

But this is a scripture that is very important to see the context before hand. God tells Joshua that, if he will meditate on the word of God day and night and observe all things it says. Then all of Joshua’s ways will be made prosperous And successful. And then he will be strengthened and he will have nothing to fear!

Friend, child of God, we must meditate daily on the word of God. So that when the trial comes, when the testing comes, we know what the Word says and we can take strength from God through His word!

What did Jesus himself do when he was tested In the wilderness after 40 days of fasting? He quoted scripture to every temptation the devil sent His way.

And He took strength from the scripture, and He knew that if he stayed in-line with what the scripture says, that God would make His ways prosperous!

My challenge today is simple. Get in the Word of God!! Wether your needing strengthened now, or your preparing for when you will need it. Meditate DAILY on the Word. And your ways will be made prosperous and successful! And you will find strength and courage through the knowledge and relationship building this daily meditation will bring you!
